Jog Water Falls / Dandeli Game Sanctuary – Karnataka Tourism

Jog (60 kms from Honnavar) is famous for its magnificent water falls. The Sharavali river flowing over a rocky bed takes a spectacular leap from a height of 292 meters and splits into four smaller streams. The best time to visit this place is just after the monsoons during June-November when the falls are at their most impressive.

Dandeli is blessed with pleasant weather all round the year; it is a natural habitat for wild life. It is about 150 km from Karwar, a picturesque town set against the backdrop of the Western Ghats. The famous Dandeli Game Sanctuary houses some rare species like the barking deer, sloth hear, panther, zimbhar and gaur. The majestic elephant is found wandering free here. Other wild life includes wild dogs and mongooses. A few kilometers away from the sanctuary, in the middle of a steep rock is a beautiful cave. Crawl through the entrance and you will find a large Shivalinga-like formation formed by stalactites and stalagmites.

Dharmastala, Subramanya, Karnataka temples

Dharmastala is situated 104 kilometres from Mangalore. The Manjunatha temple here attracts thousands of people all through the year. Every person who comes here – irrespective of caste or creed – is welcomed and provided a free meal. During the Laksha Deepotsava, the temple is illuminated with one lakh lamps. This town also has a 39 sq. ft. monolith of Bahubali.

Subramanya temple is situated in snuggled amidst rolling hills which was once the refuge of the Nagas – the cave-dwellers. The temple has an idol of Lord Kartikeya, worshipped in the form of a cobra.

Gol Gumbuz in Bijapur, Tourist attraction

In Karnataka, Bijapur is well know for Chalukyan temples. It was also the capital city of Adil Shahis. Gol Gumbuz is a fine example of Islamic architecture. It dominates the entire Bijapur and is one of the largest structure of its kind in the World. It covers roughly 1,672.2 meters. It is a huge cube, with a vast hemispherical doom.

There are octagonal towers of all the four corners. It is roughly 60 meters in height and 43 meters in diameter. There is a whispering gallery, which echoes a whisper twelve times over. This is fine example of engineering, architecture and acoustic. This is one of tourist attraction places in Karnataka.

Bangalore Tourism

Bangalore is the capital of Karnataka and it has a superb pleasant climate all over the year. Bangalore is truly cosmopolitan city. Cubbon Park: Situated in the heart of Bangalore, this park is around 300 acres of land. In 1864, the former Commissioner of Mysore Mr.Cubbon laid the foundation stone for this beautiful park.

Rangin Mahal, Karnataka Tourism

Karnataka is famous for art and architecture and the designs, decorations and tile work etc. are unique and fascinating at Bidar. Sharaza Darwaza is the second gateway to the Fort and there is a excellent tile work on the outer walls. Gumbad Darwaza is the door way and it is famous for its architecture.

Rangin Mahal: To the left to the Gumbad Darwaza steps lead upto the Color Palace, Mohammad Shah took refuge in the Shah Burz adjoining the Gumbad. The King felt that it was auspicious to live there so the rooms were built into the Rangin Mahal. Mother of peal has been used lavishly for making floral designs with granite carvings.

Bandipur National Park

In Karnataka, the Bandipur National Park is one of best Tourist Spot. According to 1997 Census, more than three thousand elephants and seventy tigers home is Bandipur National Park. You can also watch sloth bears, leopards here. Recommended by UNESCO, Bandipur National park is under consideration for World Heritage Site. This Park is famous for rare species and Sandalwood trees. The best time to visit this National Park is April to October. Bangalore is the nearest Airpot. Bandipur is approx. 200 km. from Bangalore. The nearest railway station is Mysore which is 80 km from here. You will enjoy the trip and it is going to be a memorable one for you.

Udipi Krishnar Temple

Udupi Sri Krishnar Temple attracts thousands of devotes from all over the world. From Mangalore Udupi is sistuated 60 kms away. If you are visiting Karnataka the important places are Bangalore, Mangalore and Udupi.

Great Sanskrit Philosper, Madhavacharya established this Udupi Sri Krishna Temple in 13th Century. Everyday thousands of devotees were served meals in the form of Prasada in this temple. This is a great experience. It is believed that Great composer Kanakadasa seen the Lord in this temple. The devotees take a holy dip in the Madhava Sarovar holy tank here.
